Accomplishments

Since its founding in 1989, The Friendship Preservation group has worked to make positive change for all residents. Whether advocating for zoning and code enforcement, removing litter from our streets, planting flowers in the neighborhood or working with the police to make our community safer, the FPG’s ongoing activities have help make Friendship one of Pittsburgh’s most livable neighborhoods.

Major ongoing activities include:

  • Maintenance of the PlayPark equipment and landscaping
  • Monitoring of local development and representing neighborhood interests in housing court
  • Publication of quarterly newsletter Friendship Journal and the Friendship Neighborhood Resource Guide
  • Monitoring of crime and advocating for public safety among public officials
  • Assisting neighbors to organize Block Watches
  • Organizing of a number of annual events, including the Friendship Flower and Folk Festival, the Progressive Dinner, National Night Out, and the Friendship Yard Sale
